#1 Dawood Ibrahim

No list of Mumbai underworld don can start without the mention of Dawood Ibrahim, who is still ruling the city with his henchmen and shooters. Dawood Ibrahim is the leader of the Indian organized crime syndicate D-Company founded in Mumbai. He is currently on the wanted list of Interpol for cheating, criminal conspiracy and running an organized crime syndicate. He was number three on the The World’s 10 Most Wanted. He is presently in Karachi in Pakistan, under a full shelter of Pakistans ISI.

#2 Haji Mastaan

Haji Manstan was one of biggest don’s Mumbai has ever produced, Haji ruled the Mumbai Singlehandedly, Haji is known to be the father of Mumbai organized underworld syndicate. Born in 1926 in Pannaikulam, near Ramanathapuram, Tamilnadu, Haji Mastan originally known as Mastan Haider Mirza at the age of 8 migrated with his father in Mumbai. The father-son duo ran a small cycle repairing shop in Crawford market which wasn’t enough to feed the family. 10 years later in the year 1944, Bawa joined Bombay docks as a porter and this changed his life forever. He worked in association with Karim Lala and by 1960s he became a rich man. He even started financing his money in Bollywood and became a film producer. Amitabh Bachchan whose character in Deewar was influenced by Mastan met him personally.  Mastaan was dread don but he never killed anyone or hurt the nation at large.

Kareem Lala was one only rival of Mastan at that time, at the time of 70’s’s Kareem was the second most powerful don of Mumbai.  Basically, he was from Afghanistan and was Pashtun, started work in Mumbai docks via Peshawar with Hajimastan and Varadarajan Mudaliar, later became rival. he died on February 19, 2002, at the age of 90.

Chhota Rajan urf Junior Rajan he was born in a lower-middle-class family Marathi Buddhist family in the Tilaknagar area of Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra. He worked as a cinema ticket seller in his early days. His mentor Bada Rajan and Yadagiri of Hyderabad under whom he learned the tricks of the trade. Once Bada Rajan was killed, Nikalje received the throne and the title—Chhota Rajan. For some brief period Rajan, Dawood & Gavli worked together in Mumbai, Till Mumbai blast took place. Chota Rajan left D company and Shifted to Bangkok. He was looking after the real estate extortion and dealings. #7 Abu Salem

Abu Salem was also known as Aqil Ahmed Azmi, Captain and Abu Samaan, among others; is a gangster originally from Azamgarh district in the Uttar Pradesh state of India. He tried his hand at different labor works before joining organized criminal activities in Mumbai under Dawood gang. He was later arrested in 2002 in Portugal and extradited to India. He was tried and convicted in some cases and was awarded life imprisonment in 2015.
